Project description

Project description, purpose and objectives • The policy of Golf Iceland provides for the golf movement to take the initiative for sustainability and responsible land use, in addition to which the association's role is to encourage social responsibility and environmental awareness, as well as to ensure good and safe access to their golf courses for everyone. • Workshops were held this winter as the first step in multi-faceted awareness-raising and project work aimed at making golf clubs in Iceland an important driving force in helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. • Golf Iceland's policy is valid until 2027, while the SDGs extend until 2030. Many aspects will echo and support each other. Although many golf clubs have adopted environmental protection and GEO certification determinedly, the SDGs appeal more broadly to social responsibility than the scope previously envisioned by the movement. • Here you can learn about the GEO certification of golf courses that 4 of the 62 golf courses in Iceland have received and agreed to abide by.
